Accordion of the Month August 2020:
Hohner Organola IIc
Manufacturer: M. Hohner AG Trossingen, built in 1938
Instrument No. 834318
Treble : 41 piano keys made of wood with cream marbled celluloid covering, keyboard length 510 mm, 9 mm wide semitone keys, 4 courses 16', 8°, 8' and 8*.
Three register buttons on the front of the treble handle for switching the tone rows 16', 8' and the suspended tone rows 8°, 8*, register indicator on the top of the treble housing.
Very good steel tuning on aluminum plates. Tuned at 435 Hz.
Suspended tones: 8°: 1.8/2.7/4.1/6.1/(1.5), 8*: 2.4/3.6/5.4/8.1/(1.5)
Bass : Standard bass 120 bass and chord keys, 5 choirs, 1 bass register with register indicator, reed plate quality as in the treble.
Case : Wooden case covered with red marbled celluloid, treble cover made of aluminum covered with celluloid, decorative strips, lettering "Hohner" on the cover, lettering "Hohner" and "Organola IIc" on the front of the treble case, case size: 470 mm x 190 mm.
Bellows : cardboard covered with red linen, gold-colored bellows stripes made of calico, bellows holder: metal mesh.
The instrument shows typical design features of the Morino I. It was probably designed by Venanzio Morino or he contributed to it.
The accordion was overhauled in April 2015.
